Removing the Bridal Veil
Upon entering the reception hall, the bride's veil is removed and replaced with a small lace czypek (chi-pek). A string of tiny dolls tied with pink and blue ribbons are placed around the bride and groom's neck and a bright funny hat is placed on the groom's head. This custom signifies the bride's shedding of her maidenhood as she assumes the responsibilities of marriage. The dolls are a wish that the couple have many happy, healthy children and the funny hat is a wish that their marriage will be filled with much laughter and happiness.
